Club Cup Competitions

Club Competitions Winners for 2009 can be found on the web site or with the paperwork supplied with the 2010 entry forms. Congratulations to all winners. All members are encouraged to enter these competitions. We know it may seem a daunting prospect but the experience gained will help make you a better player and you never know you could even end up a winner.
The Committee would like to ask members to ensure they are available to play on Finals Day before entering any of the Club Cup Competitions. Please ensure you read the new rules which can be found in the Club Shed.
We were very disappointed with the poor attendance on Club Finals day. Please come along and support your colleagues, bring your sandwiches and make an afternoon of it.

Dress Code

As the season starts members are reminded of the dress code at all times when on the bowling green.
Members must wear the correct bowling shoes (that is flat soled shoes) at all times when on the Bowling Green.
Clothing must comply with the match requirements as follows:-

Men:WhitesWhite Shirt & White Trousers
GreysWhite Shirt & Grey Trousers
Club ties will be worn during all Club Matches and Competitions. Ties may be removed only at the express permission of the match day Captain.
Ladies:WhitesWhite Blouse & White Skirt/Trousers
GreysWhite Blouse & Grey Skirt/Trousers
Ladies colours will be worn during all Club Matches and Competitions.

On Club Nights the correct dress is White tops and Greys. Members are reminded that they should wear greys and white even when turning up for a roll-up. League rules will take precedence and members should wear a shirt with a badge for League games.

Availability Sheets

Availability Sheets will be used again this season and will be issued to individual members as in the past. Once completed, please pass them to our Captain, Pete Thoburn. If the Captain is not available, completed sheets can be left in a 'Returns' box which can be found in the Club shed. For those members who, for whatever reason, are not issued with your copy, it will be left in the 'Availability Sheet' box which also can be found in the Club shed.
So make sure you check the Boxes regularly.
For league matches these will be issued by and returned to the League Team Captains, Ann Boaden, Dave Allen and Mike Cole.
Please note. If you put your name down to play you are playing. You will only be contacted by the Match Day Captains if you are not playing.

Match days

All members playing are expected to turn up half an hour before the Match. This season 2 members will be tasked with setting up the green, both before the match and clearing away afterwards. Members will be allocated via the team sheets. So please check them regularly. If nominated please ensure you arrive at the Green at least 45 minutes before the match start time. For all members we will be holding 'getting to know' sessions where members will be shown how to set the rinks up, opening up the changing rooms, putting the electricity on and putting up the Club flag. So if you are unsure what's to be done on match days come along to our Open day on the 10th April 2010.

Refreshments

Help with the Refreshments last season went well and thank you to all of you who helped. All members will be expected to take their turn at refreshments. New members will be allocated a date where they are expected to come along and see what has to done on match days. The Refreshment Rota will be issued as soon as the 2010 fixtures has been finalised. Remember it is your responsibility to make arrangements if you cannot do the refreshments on your allocated day. Please inform Ann Boaden of any changes.

New Members

If you know anyone that would like to try the game then please bring them along to our Open Day on 10th April 2010 or, alternatively, they can turn up on Tuesday evenings, or at any other time accompanied by a member, and have a go without incurring expenditure. Could members put their name forward that are willing to assist new bowlers to our club on our Open day?

Green Maintenance & Green Opening

Members are reminded that they should avoid using the green on weekday mornings before 12.30pm because of our agreement with Bristol City Council when essential maintenance work is normally carried out.
Please Note. The Green will be open for play from 10th April 2010 and the season closes on the 6th October 2010. The Green will be open for play normally from 12:30pm on weekdays and 10:00am on weekends.

Green Security

When using the green for a casual roll up please remember to ensure that you leave the gate locked when you leave since there were instances last year when it was left open. It only takes a moment of vandalism to ruin the green for the entire season so please make sure you record your use in the Green Dairy provided in the shed. Also ensure you keep the main gate lock safe with you whilst you are playing.

Torquay 2010

Our 2010 trip to Torquay proved to be very successful once again and we would like to thank Dave Allen for his hard work in arranging the trip. The dates Torquay 2011 is 4th to 6th February 2010. Contact Dave Allen if interested.

Shrubs

Thank you to all of you who donated Shrubs last season. A big thank you goes to those members who watered and weeded the beds. Again, if you have any shrubs please bring them along.

2009 AGM

So that all members can see what was covered at the AGM on the 11th November 2009 a folder with the draft minutes will be passed to members. Once you have read them could you please cross out your name and then pass them on to a member who is on the list. If you have any comments please pass them on to the Club Secretary, Colin Dark.

Club Fax

The Club Secretary now has a Fax machine and the number is 01454 856180. This is the Club secretary's home number so please use it for club matters only.
